In the heart of Chicago’s South Side, where resilience and community intertwine like threads in a vibrant tapestry, Scott Steward’s journey unfolds — a narrative that transcends personal achievement to touch the essence of collective empowerment. Thirty years have passed since he walked the halls of Morgan Park High School, not as a standout scholar by traditional measures, with a modest 2.1 GPA and an ACT score of 16, but as a young man brimming with spirit, marked as the class clown yet destined for greatness.

February 1, 2024, marks a momentous homecoming for Scott, coinciding with his birthday and the commencement of Black History Month, he returns to Morgan Park not just as an alumnus but as a beacon of hope and an embodiment of what it means to transform adversity into action. This invitation from 18 year teaching veteran Ms. Yonakish McGhee (daughter of Mr. Lester McGhee) to speak is a testament to his journey from an average and mediocre high school graduate to a visionary leader, the founder and CEO of Genius Lab, where Black and Latinx students are empowered to carve futures in business and technology.

Scott’s story is not merely about his return; it’s a testament to the indomitable spirit of a community and the transformative power of education…
